Cute as a Button

I was hopeful I could stay up with all the Wednesday Sketch Challenges, but it just doesn't look like that is going to happen!  I am however determined to use some of my new stuff each month so I can justify shopping when the time comes around again!

You had to know that Pure Innocence Cute as a Button was going to be at the top of my list!  She's so cute and reminds me of my own little girl!  My little one has her own little stash of buttons (or bunts, as she calls them) and plays in them regularly.  We do have to keep an eye out for the baby because I'm sure they would become a staple in his diet if we didn't!

What surprised me was the interest I had in the Right this Way stamp set.  Of course I liked it, but I hung up my scrapbooking ways a while ago.  I did know that I could use it for cards, so I went ahead and snatched it up!  I used the chevron arrows to ground our little PI.

This little embellishment was made with the Pretty Posies Die-namics, cardstock, and tulle.  My friend was making a wreath with tulle and had some left over.  I was quite curious as to weather my Die-namics would cut through it and it did.  I believe this is about three layers of tulle, too!

Off to upload to SCS!  See you soon.

She's Going to POP

Have you heard of the "going to pop" baby shower theme?  Well, I have a few friends who wanted to run with the idea for an upcoming baby shower and I was asked to make the invitations.  I could've gone with balloons or popcorn, but I decided to let the word pop take center stage.

Using the circle from the Bookmark Basics stamp set, I created bubbles in the top left hand side.  On the bottom, right hand side, I used the pinking edge circle from the Days and Dates set to show the bubbles had popped.  It might be a little hard to tell that's what I had in mind, but I knew it was following the POP theme of the shower.

I used MFT's Lemon Drop ink and Black Licorice ink for the bubbles and the red felt with the By the Letters Uppercase Die-namics.

The other elements were printed on the computer.  One of the best things about this design is that it was really easy to mass produce.  I don't do a lot of mass producing, but when I do I know it's best to keep it simple!

Have A Nice Day and ANNOUNCEMENT

No, I'm not expecting.  LOL!  I'll get to the announcement in a second.  ;)

I saw this color challenge via Facebook (thanks, Lori!) and it inspired me to get stamping.  I also sought out a sketch and ended up using the latest Retro Sketch.  Have you seen their sketches?  I love the simplicity of their layouts, go have a look!

I used the Vanity License Plate stamp set and Die-namics.  I also wanted to use the new Die-namics Mini Hybrid Heirloom Rose, too.  I used Whip Cream felt, too.

And now for the news.  Some of you may have already read it on the MFT blog, so it may not be news, but I wanted to announce it here, too.  I have decided to step down from the design team.

The truth is that my kids are young and my time has been split for a long time.  I have put off making this decision and decided that it was never going to get easier to step away.  I guess I thought it eventually would.

The truth is that My Favorite Things has been a big part of my life for the past three years.  Of course, stamping started for me with one of the big home stamping companies, which led to Splitcoast, which led to discovering other small stamp companies.  You've seen some Verve, Unity, TCP, and others, but you have seen A LOT of MFT around here.  I was drawn to MFT from the beginning and I loved being a customer.  I played in challenges, learned techniques, and followed all of the fabulous stampers on the team.  I dreamed about being on the DT, but didn't know if it would happen, and it eventually became my reality.

It was very easy for me to spend time working with and promoting MFT products.  Why?  Because I loved them from the beginning.  Each month was something new and exciting and that certainly hasn't changed.  I loved going to CHA and meeting some of my favorite stampers in real life.  There is a lot of love shared in the MFT family and I'm going to miss that the most.  If you've thought they looked kind, generous, and fun online, the very truth is that they're all that in real life, too.

I hope to continue stamping (and shopping, I'm looking forward to seeing the teasers as a customer!) and coming here to share as time permits.  At this time, I don't know exactly what that looks like, but we shall see.

I want to thank you for stopping in here and all of your kind comments over the years.

With love,
Megan

Mojo Circus

I'm jumping in with a little Mojo sketch entry.  It's not too often that a card just comes together, but this one certainly did.  The patterned paper was just sitting right there and it screamed circus, so I grabbed the Circus Spectacular set from My Favorite Things, and got to work.

I used Fresh Inks for the elephant and the sentiment, but I grounded the elephant with MFT's new Kraft Ink and Western Backgrounds.  The patterned paper is Cakewalk by October Afternoon.  I added a little button to look like a ball was balancing on the elephant's trunk.

It's a gorgeous day here.  Off to ride the tricycle--errrr--supervise the little one riding a tricycle.  ;)

MFT WSC

I'm joining in for this week's WSC with My Favorite Things.  I had not inked up my Off the Chart stamp set or used my super fun (for nerdies like me) Pie Chart Die-namics.

The Pie Chart Die-namics are great for incorporating a lot of those patterned papers.  I loved that I could use so many designs in a small amount for a big impact on this card.  I distressed all of the edges to make each piece stand out a bit.  I used the Label and Tabs Die-namics for the circle with the 100% stamped on it.  And you guessed it, I used the FABULOUS new ink, Sno Cone and Kraft for the sentiments.

The paper is from Crate and the washi tape (love the math notes!) is from Freckled Fawn.  You can order the washi right from their website with very reasonable shipping!

I'll be back soon!  ~megan

New Product Tour: January

Welcome to the first New Product Tour of the year!  All of the lovely stamp sets and Die-namics are now available in the MFT Boutique, here!  Happy shopping!

I am loving the sweet new set, Lollipop Additions - Love.  The circular sentiments are darling!  I used the Lollipop Treat Die-namics and the new Square Pillow Box Die-namics (I love the shape and size of this guy!) to make a set of little treats. I imagine my daughter will get these and rip into them!  It'll be a fun time for her, then clean up time for me.  ;)

I used Kraft and Whip Cream cardstock with some patterned paper for the different layers.  I also used the new Kraft and Black Licorice inks--both must haves if you ask me!

I tied it up with some of my favorite twine (errr, hemp) through the button holes.

Lollipop Additions - Love can also be used to make cards.  You could easily make this with one circle element on a small card to hand out.  I used four of the cute little circle-y sentiments for the main focus.

I used the Circle STAX Die-namics (set 1 & set 2) and the Square STAX Die-namics for the plaid background.  I used the cute chevron stamp to point toward the main sentiment, both stamped in the new Kraft and Black Licorice ink.  I used Whip Cream and Kraft cardstock with some My Mind's Eye patterned paper.

I dressed it up with some Hot Fudge ribbon, hemp, and a little felt heart cut with the Accent It - Calendar Components Die-namics.

I just couldn't wrap up this release without inking up at least one of those darling images in the new Doodle Garden line!  I used the Sweet Friend because honestly, look at the little heart on her dress.  So cute!

I used watercolor paper and Twinkling H2Os to color the image.  The patterned paper is from Crate Paper and I just love what they've been doing with their colors and designs lately.  I used a few scrap pieces to built a patchwork background and I think the overall feel of the papers just go with the image.  I accented the card front with crochet ribbon and 10-ply twine.

And before I go too far, I also really wanted to use the new Boy Meets Girl Die-namics.  The oh so common graphics are just perfect for fun details.  I think they can also be quite manly, or maybe just not so girly, which is always a plus if you're making a masculine card.  ;)

I used the new Accent It - Labels and Tabs Die-namics for the "YOU + ME" sentiment.  I also loved the idea of mimicking the big man and woman...errr, boy and girl...with a little one and the darling border was perfect!

I used the Framed Greetings Die-namics for the sentiment and the Notched Tag Die-namics for the white felt heart that holds their hands together.  The neutral cardstock is Natural cardstock that is quite very handy when Kraft cardstock is too much.  It doesn't happen too often, but there are occasions when you want something a little softer.  I also grounded the main image with some brown corrugated cardboard and the Squiggle Border Die-namics.

You officially to the end.  Done with me!  :)  Be sure and check the MFT blog for all of the links tonight!

MFTeasers: Day Three

I'm very excited about today's teasers.  You know why?  Because of the Keys and Locks Die-namics.  I'm also quite the fan of the Lovey Dovey Sentiments stamp set, too.

I used Kraft, Whipped Cream, and Black Licorice cardstock.  I cut the big lock out of Steel Grey felt and tied it down with a red button and hemp.  I used the Well Worn Greetings Die-namics for the sentiment.

Here are all the cute little keys and locks:

I also used the two new inks that we're releasing this month, Kraft and Black Licorice.  Here's the coordinating kraft collection.  Swoon.
